A highly porous calcium carbonate (calcite; sorbent 1) was used as a support for modification with α-FeOOH (calcite/goethite; sorbent 2), α-MnO2 (calcite/α-MnO2; sorbent 3) and α-FeOOH/α-MnO2 (calcite/goethite/α-MnO2; sorbent 4) in order to obtain a cheap hybrid materials for simple and effective arsenate removal from aqueous solutions. The adsorption ability of synthesized adsorbents was studied as a function of functionalization methods, pH, contact time, temperature and ultrasonic treatment. Comparison of the adsorptive effectiveness of synthesized adsorbents for arsenate removal, under ultrasound treatment and classical stirring method, has shown better performance of the former one reaching maximum adsorption capacities of 1.73, 21.00, 10.36 and 41.94 mg g−1, for sorbents 14, respectively. Visual MINTEQ equilibrium speciation modeling was used for prediction of pH and interfering ion influences on arsenate adsorption.  相似文献

It is well known that acoustic cavitation can facilitate the inward transport of genetic materials across cell membranes (sonoporation). However, partially due to the unstationary behavior of the initiation and leveling of cavitation, the sonoporation effect is usually unstable, especially in low intensity conditions. A system which is able to regulate the cavitation level during sonication by modulating the applied acoustic intensity with a feedback loop is implemented and its effect on in vitro gene transfection is tested. The regulated system provided better time stability and reproducibility of the cavitation levels than the unregulated conditions. Cultured hepatoma cells (BNL) mixed with 10 μg luciferase plasmids are exposed to 1-MHz pulsed ultrasound with or without cavitation regulation, and the gene transfection efficiency and cell viability are subsequently assessed. Experimental results show that for all exposure intensities (low, medium, and high), stable and intensity dependent, although not higher, gene expression could be achieved in the regulated cavitation system than the unregulated conditions. The cavitation regulation system provides a better control of cavitation and its bioeffect which are crucial important for clinical applications of ultrasound-mediated gene transfection.  相似文献

The present work reports a novel dual-pulse ultrasound enhanced electrochemical degradation (US-ECD) process that synchronizes alternatively ultrasound pulses and potential pulses to degrade nitrobenzene in aqueous solution with a high percentage degradation and low energy consumption. In comparison to the test results generated from the conventional US-ECD and original electrochemical degradation (ECD) process, the dual-pulse US-ECD process increased degradation percentages to nitrobenzene by 2% and 17%, respectively, while energy used in the pulse process was only about 46.5% of that was used in the conventional US-ECD process. Test results demonstrated a superior performance of the dual-pulse US-ECD process over those of other conventional ones. Impacts of pulse mode, initial pH value, cell voltage, supporting electrolyte concentration and ultrasonic power on the process performances were investigated. With operation conditions optimized in the study at pH = 3.0, cell voltage = 10 V, ultrasonic power = 48.84 W, electrolyte concentration = 0.1 M and an experiment running time of 30 min, the percentage degradation of nitrobenzene could reach 80% (US pulse time = 50 ms and ECD pulse time = 50 ms). This process provided a reliable and effective technical approach to degrade nitrobenzene in aqueous solution and significantly reduced energy consumption in comparison to the conventional US-ECD or original ECD treatment.  相似文献

Ultrasound-mediated drug delivery was established using liposomes that were modified with the thermosensitive polymer (TSP) poly(NIPMAM-co-NIPAM), which sensitized the liposomes to high temperatures. TSP-modified liposomes (TSP liposomes) released encapsulated calcein under 1 MHz ultrasound irradiation at 0.5 W/cm2 for 120 s as well as the case under incubation at 42 °C for 15 min. In addition, uptake of the drug released from TSP liposomes by cancer cells was enhanced by ultrasound irradiation. In a cell injury assay using doxorubicin (DOX)-loaded TSP liposomes and ultrasound irradiation, cell viability of HepG2 cells at 6 h after ultrasound irradiation (1 MHz, 0.5 W/cm2 for 30 s) with DOX-loaded TSP liposomes (TSP/lipid ratio = 1) was 60%, which was significantly lower than that of the control conditions such as DOX-loaded TSP liposomes alone and DOX-loaded intact liposomes under ultrasound irradiation.  相似文献

Biofilm elimination is often necessary during antimicrobial therapy or industrial medical manufacturing decontamination. In this context, ultrasound treatment has been frequently described in the literature for its antibiofilm effectiveness, but at the same time, various authors have described ultrasound as a formidable enhancer of bacterial viability. This discrepancy has found no solution in the current literature for around 9 years; some works have shown that every time bacteria are exposed to an ultrasonic field, both destruction and stimulation phenomena co-exist. This co-existence proves to have different final effects based on various factors such as: ultrasound frequency and intensity, the bacterial species involved, the material used for ultrasound diffusion, the presence of cavitation effects and the forms of bacterial planktonic or biofilm. The aim of this work is to analyze current concepts regarding ultrasound effect on prokaryotic cells, and in particular ultrasound activity on bacterial biofilm.  相似文献

In this study, we demonstrated the feasibility of targeted and ultrasound-triggered drug delivery using liposomes co-modified with single stranded DNA aptamers that recognized platelet-derived growth factor receptors (PDGFRs) as targeting ligands for breast cancer cells and poly(NIPMAM-co-NIPAM) as the thermosensitive polymer (TSP) to sensitize these liposomes to high temperature. TSP-modified liposomes (TSP liposomes) released encapsulated calcein under 1 MHz ultrasound irradiation for 30 s at 0.5 W/cm2 as well as the case under incubation for 5 min at 42 °C. Ultrasound-triggered calcein release from TSP liposomes was due to an increased local temperature, resulting from cavitation bubble collapse induced by ultrasound, and not due to an increase in the bulk medium temperature. Liposomes modified with PDGFR aptamers (APT liposomes) bound to MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cells through PDGFR aptamers; however, they did not bind to primary human mammary epithelial cells (HMECs). The binding of APT liposomes was greatest for MDA-MB-231 cells, followed by MCF-7, WiDr, and HepG2 cancer cells. In a cell injury assay using doxorubicin (DOX)-loaded APT/TSP liposomes and ultrasound irradiation, cell viability of MDA-MB-231 at 24 h after ultrasound irradiation (1 MHz for 30 s at 0.5 W/cm2) with DOX-loaded APT/TSP liposomes was 60%, which was lower than that with ultrasound irradiation and DOX-loaded TSP liposomes or with DOX-loaded APT/TSP liposomes alone.  相似文献

The possibility of reducing the use of auxiliaries in conventional cellulose acetate dyeing with Disperse Red 50 using ultrasound technique was studied as an alternative to the standard procedure. Dyeing of cellulose acetate yarn was carried out by using either mechanical agitation alone, with and without auxiliaries, or coupling mechanical and ultrasound agitation in the bath where the temperature range was maintained between 60 and 80 °C.The best results of dyeing kinetics were obtained with ultrasound coupled with mechanical agitation without auxiliaries (90% of bath exhaustion value at 80 °C). Hence the corresponding half dyeing times, absorption rate constants according to Cegarra–Puente modified equation and ultrasound efficiency were calculated confirming the synergic effect of sonication on the dyeing kinetics. Moreover the apparent activation energies were also evaluated and the positive effect of ultrasound added to mechanical agitation was evidenced by the lower value (48 kJ/mol) in comparison with 112 and 169 kJ/mol for mechanical stirring alone with auxiliaries and without, respectively. Finally, the fastness tests gave good values for samples dyed with ultrasound technique even without auxiliaries. Moreover color measurements on dyed yarns showed that the color yield obtained by ultrasound-assisted dyeing at 80 °C of cellulose acetate without using additional chemicals into the dye bath reached the same value yielded by mechanical agitation, but with remarkably shorter time.  相似文献

In this research work, dextranase was immobilized onto calcium alginate beads by the combination of ultrasonic irradiation and high hydrostatic pressure (US/HHP) treatments. Effects of US/HHP treatments on loading efficiency and immobilization yield of dextranase enzyme onto calcium alginate beads were investigated. Furthermore, the activities of immobilized enzymes prepared with and without US/HHP treatments and that prepared with ultrasonic irradiation (US) and high hydrostatic pressure (HHP), as a function of pH, temperature, recyclability and enzyme kinetic parameters, were compared with that for free enzyme. The maximum loading efficiency and the immobilization yield were observed when the immobilized dextranase was prepared with US (40 W at 25 kHz for 15 min) combined with HHP (400 MPa for 15 min), under which the loading efficiency and the immobilization yield increased by 88.92% and 80.86%, respectively, compared to immobilized enzymes prepared without US/HHP treatment. On the other hand, immobilized enzyme prepared with US/HHP treatment showed Vmax, KM, catalytic and specificity constants values higher than that for the immobilized enzyme prepared with HHP treatment, indicated that, this new US/HHP method improved the catalytic kinetics activity of immobilized dextranase at all the reaction conditions studied. Compared to immobilized enzyme prepared either with US or HHP, the immobilized enzymes prepared with US/HHP method exhibited a higher: pH optimum, optimal reaction temperature, thermal stability and recyclability, and lower activation energy, which, illustrating the effectiveness of the US/HHP method. These results indicated that, the combination of US and HHP treatments could be an effective method for improving the immobilization of enzymes in polymers.  相似文献

Degradation of five textile dyes, namely Reactive Red 141 (RR 141), Reactive Blue 21 (RB 21), Acid Red 114 (AR 114), Acid Blue 113 (AB 113) and Basic Violet 16 (BV 16) in aqueous solution has been carried out with ultrasound (US) and in combination with rare earth ions (La3+ and Pr3+). Kinetic analysis of the data showed a pseudo-first order degradation reaction for all the dyes. The rate constant (k), half life (t1/2) and the process efficiency (φ) for various processes in degradation of dyes under different experimental conditions have been calculated. The influence of concentrations of dyes (16–40 mg/L), pH (5, 7 and 9) and rare earth ion concentration (4, 12 and 20 mg/L) on the degradation of dyes have also been studied. The degradation percentage increased with increasing rare earth amount and decreased with increasing concentration of dyes. Both horn and bath type sonicators were used at 20 kHz and 250 W for degradation. The sonochemical degradation rate of dyes in the presence of rare earths was related to the type of chromophoric groups in the dye molecule. Degradation sequence of dyes was further examined through LCMS and Raman spectroscopic techniques, which confirmed the sonochemical degradation of dyes to non-toxic end products.  相似文献

This work aims to contribute to the understanding of how the properties of the material being dried affect air-borne ultrasonic application. To this end, the experimental drying kinetics (40 °C and 1 m/s) of cassava (Manihot esculenta) and apple (Malus domestica var. Granny Smith) were carried out applying different ultrasonic powers (0, 6, 12, 19, 25 and 31 kW/m3). Furthermore, the power ultrasound-assisted drying kinetics of different fruits and vegetables (potato, eggplant, carrot, orange and lemon peel) already reported in previous studies were also analyzed. The structural, textural and acoustic properties of all these products were assessed, and the drying kinetics modeled by means of the diffusion theory.A significant linear correlation (r > 0.95) was established between the identified effective diffusivity (DW) and the applied ultrasonic power for the different products. The slope of this relationship (SDUP) was used as an index of the effectiveness of the ultrasonic application; thus the higher the SDUP, the more effective the ultrasound application. SDUP was well correlated (r  0.95) with the porosity and hardness. In addition, SDUP was largely affected by the acoustic impedance of the material being dried, showing a similar pattern with the impedance than the transmission coefficient of the acoustic energy on the interface. Thus, soft and open-porous product structures exhibited a better transmission of acoustic energy and were more prone to the mechanical effects of ultrasound. However, materials with a hard and closed-compact structure were less affected by acoustic energy due to the fact that the significant impedance differences between the product and the air cause high energy losses on the interface.  相似文献
